SHAHDAD

Shahdad Kalut is an extraordinary natural phenomenon, a metropolitan clod formation appearing as if it were a major city in the heart of the Lut desert. Filled with excitement as the delusion reveals itself, these earth structures continue as far as the eye can see and takes you to an unknown world full of peace and solitude.

This treasure trove of huge clod rocks and prodigious dunes in Shahdad Kalut has been created by the erosion of wind and water over the course of many thousands of years.

Located in the UNESCO World Heritage registered site, LUT Desert, these kaluts are reputed to be located in one of the hottest areas in the world, which NASA in 2005 declared the temperature of here, 70.7 degrees Celsius.

According to Prof. Parvis Kordvani, a professional desert researcher, Shahdad Kalut consider as one of the wonders of the world, which are unique of their own kinds. He added: ‘If Death Valley is located in United States, Lut desert includes Death lanes which are extremely significant.

For those lucky enough to travel here, photographing the stunning night sky full of stars in this desert is a highly rewarding experience.  Both astronomers and photographers will appreciate this tremendous opportunity to experience and record this endless wonder.
