Day 2: Tehran

Arrive at very early morning hours at the Tehran IKA-Airport. Your Tourguide will welcome you a the Airport and transfer to your hotel (50 Km). Hotels are pre-booked from the previous night.

After taking some rest and breakfast, we will meet at around 9:00 a.m. to explore the vibrant cosmopolitan city of Tehran (the largest city and the capital of Iran).

We start with the most important Museum of Iran, the National-Museum. At the Museum we will visit the old-persian Section of the Museum (Prior Islam Period), that gave us also thanks the Information and Explanation from our Tourguide a good Image about the Persian History and a better view to our trip and the historical sites that we are go to visit on this trip.

We continue to visit the Saadabad Palace– the former Pahlavi- Complex, that the last Persian Kings (Shah Reza and Mohammad Reza Pahlavi), lived there, after exploring the Mellat (White Palace) and Green Palace  we will have a look at the traditional Tajrish-Bazaar, the biggest and oldest Bazaar in North of Tehran.

Also at the evening we will have the opportunity to taste one of the most famous Persian traditional meals “Dizi” , also called Abgusht at a traditional Persian Restaurant.

The afternoon will be dedicated to a visit to the Tabiat Bridge (Nature Bridge) and also the Azadi Tower, a symbol of Tehran which is a wonderful white structure that shines like a jewel on the west side of Tehran.

Day 3: Tehran- Hamedan

In the morning, we will leave Tehran for Hamedan, one of the most historical cities in Iran and one of the oldest in the world.

After arriving at noon, the time will be dedicated to visiting the traditional Bazaar and beside it the  Alavian Dome, a four-sided structure with astonishing architecture. This will be followed by a visit to the Tomb of Avicenna, which is regarded as the symbol of Hamedan. This attraction is definitely worthwhile as Avicenna is regarded as one of the significant thinkers, writers, astronomers, and philosophers of the Islamic golden age.

At night, we will visit the Ganjnameh relief with two ancient inscriptions in three languages, Old Persian, Babylonian, and Neo-Elamite. A visit to Ganjnameh is not just about historical sights; the entertainment activities of Ganjnameh make it a must-see attraction.

 

Our Day will end with enjoying a delicious Persian Dinner in a nice Restaurant with the view of the City. (317km)

Day 4: Hamedan-Kermanshah

In the morning, we will visit the stunning Hegmataneh archeological site before leaving Hamedan for Kermanshah.

En route, we will visit Behistun, the Inscriptions from King Darius the Great that are made in the mountain and also some other rock reliefs from the Parthian and Sassanian Dynastie.

On arrival in Kermanshah, we will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site Taghe Bostan, that is the main Highlight from Kermanshah.

In Kermanschah we have the opportunity to taste the local Dish of the City (Khoresht Khalal), that always everyone enjoy the taste of this rich food that is made by rice, Safran,  lamb meat, sliced almonds, black barberry and Spices.  (182km)

Day 5: Kermanshah- Khorramabad

At Morning we go to the traditional local Bazaar of Kermanschah and after visting the Bazaar, we go to the Tekiye Moaven Al Molk, it is looking a little bit like a mosque, but this beautiful place is made for the Islamic Month Muharram, that the Shia people make there religious  Ceremonies for the third Imam of Shia (Imam Hossein). About noontime  we depart for Khorramabad on the Zagros Mountains, which is known as the city of waterfalls. We will also visit Falak-ol-Aflak Castle, a gigantic historical structure dating back to the Sassanid era during the rule of Shapur I. (191km)

Day 6: Khorramabad- Shushtar

At early orning we leave Khoramabad and drive across the Zagros Mountains to the South and start with a road trip to explore some beautiful attractions in the Khuzestan province.

Our first visit is in Susa city, an archaeological treasure at the foot of Zagros. Here, we will visit the tomb of Danial the prophet, as well as Acropol castle which was constructed by French archaeologists, we continue to Tchogha Zanbil, a magnificent UNESCO-registered World Heritage Site and the only founded pyramid in Iran. This is a stunning masterpiece from over 3,000 years ago belonging to the Elamite civilization.

Our excursion will end at the Shushtar Hydraulic System (UNESCO), which stands as proof of the intelligence and engineering power of its constructors.

Tonight, we are guests at this ancient fortress in the south of Iran. (411km)

Day 7: Shushtar- Bishapur- Shiraz

At early morning we leave Shushtar and start our long journey that we have today. Beautiful and eye catching Scenes and landscapes are at our journey.  We drive to Shiraz, en route visiting Bishapur, an ancient city of the Persian land and the glamorous reliefs of Tange Chogan.

At night, we will stay in Shiraz, the city of flowers and poets. (606km)

Day 8: Shiraz

Early in the morning, we will experience the beautiful sight of sunlight passing through the colorful windows at the mesmerizing Nasir al-Mulk Mosque, also known as the Pink Mosque, a stunning opportunity to get lost in gorgeous colors.

Distinguished citadel of Shiraz, Arg e Karim Khan, the 18th-century royal castle of Karim Khan Zand, the famous king of the Zand dynasty, and the Vakil Complex (bath, mosque, and bazaar) will be our next visits to explore their history and architecture.

The Persian gardens in Shiraz are filled with stunning and unusual scents. Eram Garden, surrounded by numerous trees and flowers. At the late evening we are going to visit the Tomb of the Poet Hafiz and our Guide will read for you some poems in Persian from Hafiz and translate it also for you.

We have the opportunity today to taste the regional food ” Kalam Plo”, or Cabbage Rice a traditional combination from rice, lamb meat, cabbage, aromatic vegetable and herbs.

Day 9: Shiraz-Persepolis-Yazd

Drive to Yazd, and en route visit the breathtaking site of Persepolis (UNESCO), by an excursion to some 50 km northeast of Shiraz. Persepolis, a glorious relic of the Achaemenid dynasty is considered the highlight of any travel to Iran.

After that, we will continue to the fantastic archeological site, Naqsh-e Rostam, and later on, drive to visit Pasargadae, the first capital of the Achaemenid Empire, including the tomb of Cyrus the Great.

In the late afternoon, we will arrive in Yazd and check in our hotel and go ready after it for having a traditional local Dinner and relax after our long and exited day. (470 Km).

Day 10: Yazd-Isfahan

At morning visit the Zoroastrian Tower of silence (Dakhmeh) and find out about this Zoroastrian funeral culture, continue to the Fire-Tempel and see the fire on it that is burning for more than 700 years.

After the Zoroastrian morning, we will visit the famous Amirchakhmaq  Square, the most famous place in  Yazd, including the UNESCO-Oldtown, where we visit the Jameh-mosque with the highest Minaretts in Iran (53 Meter). Also we will have the possibility while we make some rest for a coffee/tea or a fresh pomegranate juice at one of the roof-coffees of the city to take lovely pictures from our great view from there to the oldtown.

Before we leave Yazd we go to visit the famous Persian Garden (Dowlatabad) and find out more about the Wind Towers while we see also there the highest Wind Tower in Iran. Finally we have the chance to experience the traditional food from Yazd, Gheimeh Yazdi that is

 

In the late evening, we will arrive in Isfahan and walk beside the Zayandeh Rud River, where we will visit also the famous Bridges (Si-o-se Pol & Khaju).

Day 11: Isfahan

Our tour today is a full-day visit of wonderful sites, including the eye-catching Naqsh-e Jahan Square. We will explore the two world’s most magnificent mosques, the Imam and Sheikh Lutfullah Mosques, the former being the largest and most splendid monument of the Safavid dynasty, and the latter the stunning religious structure shining at the eastern side of Naghshe Jahan Square. On the western side of the square, another impressive building, Ali Qapu Palace, stands out. This building served as the official residence of the Persian emperor Safavid reign. We will also have time to visit Chehel Sotoun Palace with its 20 columns and their reflections on the water of the pool.

Today we will have the opportunity to enjoy at the famous Persian Restaurants 1001 Night Sharzad one of the delicious Persian foods like the pomegranate Stew (Fesenjan).

Day 12: Isfahan-Kashan-Tehran

 

At Morning visiting the Armenien quarter of the City that is called Jolfa including the Vank-Church and the famous Museum that is there. After it we leave to Kashan and visit in Kashan the Fin-Garden, the traditional Bazaar and the Theologie School and Mosque Agha Bozorg. Today we are going to enjoy in Kashan some culinary dishes from this traditional city and find out about the foods of Kashan. At the late evening we continue or drive  to Tehran airport and if the times allows us, enroute we make a stop in Qom and visit the Shrine from Fatima.

Finally we continue our journey to Tehran airport and arrive there at the late evening. Check in for the return flight and say bye to our Tourguide. (400 kM)

  • Prices listed in DBL ROOM (P/P) are on a per person basis, sharing accommodation (unless otherwise stated).
  • Prices do not include international flights.
  • Most tours are based on customers sharing twin-bedded rooms. If you book as an individual, you will be roomed with someone of the same sex. However, we offer the opportunity to pay a supplement to pre-book a single room.

We regularly run this small-group tour. All departures are guaranteed to run if a minimum of 2 travelers is reached. If we do not reach this minimum number, we will offer you to either pay a supplement to do the tour exactly as planned, to change your date, to take another tour, or we will provide you with a full refund. Departure dates and prices are listed on our website and in our brochure. Please check the website for the most up-to-date prices and special offers.

Passports should be valid for at least six months after your departure from the country. Please do not bring an almost full or almost expired passport. Visa arrangements are the responsibility of the traveller.

We use good quality  4-star Hotels on this tour. Local star ratings may vary slightly from international standards. Accommodation is based on double or twin en-suite rooms with air conditioning.

All couples will have a private double room.

Single travelers must pay extra to have their private room.

We use a private AC van, middle bus or bus throughout this tour, subject to the final size of the group. All our Vans, middle Buses and private cars are quiet new and our Drivers are well trained by us for working in the Tourism-Industry.

  • What is the best time to visit Iran?

    The best time to visit Iran is normally from April to May and from September to early November. However, Iran, as a vast country is a destination for all four seasons. For instance, in July and August, the west and northwest of Iran are the best choices due to cooler weather, mixed with classic routes, such as Tabriz, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, and Hamedan. The months of November, December, January, and February are the best time for traveling to south Iran and visiting the islands of Qeshm, Kish, Chabahar, and Bushehr.

  • What is the main currency in Iran?

    The national currency in Iran is the Iranian Rial (IRR). However, due to the dramatic decrease in Iran’s currency value, Iranians informally use Toman to make daily transactions easier. Each Toman equals 10 Rials and you just need to omit one zero to find out the value in Toman.

  • Is it safe to travel to Iran?

    Iran is generally safe for foreign travelers and Iranians are well-known for their warm hospitality. But if you are still in doubt, let a licensed Iranian tour operator or travel agency organize a hassle-free tour for you.

  • Can American, British, and Canadian citizens get a visa for Iran?

    Yes, they absolutely can! They are just required to travel with a licensed local guide across the country and arrange their visas in advance.

  • Should I wear a hijab in Iran as a woman?

    Foreign women should wear hijab in Iran according to the country’s laws. But just a loose hijab covering their hair, neck, arms, and legs is enough. Chador and burqa are not mandatory. Chador is just mandatory in some religious sites, including some mosques or shrines, and is offered to the visitors at the entrance.

  • Is my credit card accepted in Iran?

    Credit cards and debit cards do not work in Iran, unfortunately, due to the sanctions. So, you can either bring enough cash with you during your trip to Iran or exchange money at the airport or exchange offices across the cities. Iranian debit cards are also available.

  • Is there internet access in Iran?

    Yes, you can access Wi-Fi in most public places, such as hotels, restaurants, and coffee shops. However, due to filtering on some social media and websites, you should use a VPN to unblock them. You can also use data internet by buying a local SIM card in the airport or mobile shops.

  • Can I drink alcohol in Iran?

    Alcoholic drinks are forbidden according to the country’s laws.

  • Can I find vegetarian restaurants in Iran?

    You can find a great variety of vegetarian meals in the Persian culinary, as well as vegetarian restaurants in larger cities. If you are going to travel to Iran on a tour, you’d better inform the tour operator or the travel agency in advance.
